Douglas Schulman

Douglas Schulman

Douglas Schulman has been an avid student of wine for years.  He passed the Certified Wine Educator exam in 2010, earning the Castello Banfi Award for the highest score that year.  He also holds the WSET Diploma, and is currently pursuing the Master of Wine certification.

Douglas has worked in the wine business since 2008, with experience at several retail shops as well as working as a distributor sales rep.  He currently buys and sells wine, as well as teaching consumer wine classes, conducting staff education, and all kinds of other fun stuff at Dion's in Waltham.

As a wine consumer, Douglas particularly loves cool climate whites (especially Riesling), sparkling wines, Pinot Noir, and Nebbiolo.  He also includes such diverse wines as Abbazia di Novacella Kerner and Chateau Musar on his list of favorites.  In search of learning and fun, he has visited the wine regions of the Finger Lakes in New York, Willamette Valley in Oregon, as well as several places in New Zealand: Hawke's Bay, Martinborough, and Central Otago.
